Flexible and Rigid Pavements


 Today 29 July 2019, we learn about the different of  Flexible and Rigid Pavements. The cost to make flexible pavements is cheaper than Rigid Pavements. The cost of maintenance for flexible pavements are expensive than rigid pavements. The reason is rigid pavements is stronger than flexible but hard to make it.




22 July 2019, We play online quiz game called Kahoot! . From today class, we learn about the difference of bitumen and asphalt. My mark for these online quiz are not bad but i still need to do more revision.

Our topic for today is Flexible Pavement in chapter 3. We learnt that in this chapter, it consists of Pavement Components, Flexible Pavements Thickness Design, Mixed Design Process, Plant Trials/Trial Design, Site Quality Control & Inspection/Testing/Acceptance.

Sir Saiful Bahari provided few videos for us to gain extra knowledge & to see a clear view of what he taught. And it also helps us in seeing with different aspect as we can imagined the real image on how to make the roads.

Structures functions have 5 different parts.

  1. Wearing Course
  2. Binder Course 
  3. Base Course 
  4. Sub Base Course
  5. Sub grade

We believe that everybody can understand it perfectly as every informations were delivered very clearly.

Traffic Camp


18 July 2019, 

Our class DKA3B and DKA3A going to Teluk Intan for Traffic Camp. The task given are Spot speed test and Intersection test. We departed at 7.45 a.m and arrive at 9.00 a.m. By the time we arrive, we start practical until 11.30 a.m. My group start with spot speed test first and then intersection test. At 12.00 p.m , we take a lunch and depart back to Politeknik Sultan Idris Shah and arrive at 3.00 p.m.

Today 29 July 2019 , we study about road layer.There have 5 layer all of them.The first layer is wearing course.It is top most layer.Second, binder course.Its bound layers overlaying base course.
The third is base course that prominent layer to support and dipersion of traffiic load.
fourth is sub base coursed that optional layer to disperse traffic load from base to sub grade.And the last is sub grade .Sub grade is the upper most soil material and its also original ground or important  soil.Its suppporting the pavement life and dead load..Thats all thank you for reading this blog....:)
